Living in La Orotava

The old quarter of La Orotava has steep cobbled streets, carved wooden balconies and the well-known Casa de los Balcones. Around the town the valley is farmed in terraces, with vineyards and vegetable plots higher up and banana plantations towards the coast.

The municipality reaches all the way up into Teide National Park, so walking country is close. Fincas and country houses on the slopes offer space and views, but often come with steep access roads and older installations; ask about the water supply and access before you visit.
