Puerto de la Cruz

The historic resort town of the north coast: a fishing harbour, old squares, sea-water pools and a mild, greener climate.

Living in Puerto de la Cruz

Puerto de la Cruz welcomed its first visitors in the nineteenth century and still has an old centre around the Plaza del Charco and the fishing harbour. The sea-water pools of Lago Martiánez, designed by César Manrique, and a botanical garden founded in the eighteenth century are part of everyday life here.

The town feels more Spanish than the resorts of the south, with residents who live here all year. The north gets more cloud and rain, which keeps the surroundings green and the temperatures mild. Apartments in town are often within walking distance of shops and the seafront, and Tenerife North airport is about half an hour away.
